Taking inspiration from artists showing in the New Art West Midlands exhibition and those from the wider art world including Grayson Perry and Laure Prouvost, this talk will explore the who, what and where of contemporary art. Via painting, photography, installation, performance and participatory events, the session will focus on the wide range of materials, forms of expression and platforms for display available to artists today. Some of the complex art historical, political and social reasons behind these artistic choices will also be considered in this richly illustrated talk.
