I’ve been busy writing a number of different texts in the past few weeks. These include:
– A series of 7 artist texts for the Longbridge Public Art Project. The texts will be made into a digital publication available from the website, used to contextualise and reflect upon the projects and activities of the Longbridge Public Art Project so far. The artist texts include those on Stuart Whipps, Cathy Wade, Stephen Burke, Hannah Hull, Juneau Projects, Rob Hewitt and Luke Perry.
– A series of artist profile texts on the 9 artists shortlisted for the Birmingham Big Art Project curated by Eastside Projects. Short versions of these texts were published by the Birmingham Post recently. The full artist profile texts will hopefully feature in a project publication in the coming months. The artists selected are Susan Philipsz, Haroon Mirza, Joanne Tatham & Tom O’Sullivan, Roger Hiorns, Heather & Ivan Morison, Sofia Hulten, Brian Griffiths, Keith Wilson and Richard Hughes.
– A critical/creative response to Anna Falcini‘s exhibition at Oriel Davies, ‘Talking to Gwen‘. My texts took the form of letters addressed to Anna and to Gwen John, on whose work Anna’s drawings are connected directly to. The exhibition runs until 27 January 2016. Publication details to be announced.
– Various commissions for a-n‘s news page including a news feature on artist development programme, The Syllabus and a news feature on Clipping the Church by artist Tereza Buskova. More details to be announced.
